Austin Music People 10/06/2010
It's ALL about the music. Am I right? In Austin, at least! Austin's music scene is a unique community unmatched in its cohesion and innovation. Supportive when I was finding my way, enthusiastically embracing when I've been on the right track, the Austin Music Scene has been a true family to me. That's why I was honored when asked to be a part of Austin Music People, Austin's sexiest new non-profit created to ensure our city's place as the Live Music Capital of the World (Austinist reports here). Created by some of Austin's premier industry peeps, including C3, Transmission Entertainment, Joah Spearman (Sneak Attack), and many more, AMP invites anyone involved in the local music scene from fans to DJs to barmen to booking agents to help accomplish the following goals (taken from the AMP website):
Needless to say, I was mucho excited to be asked to be a part of what AMP is calling the "ACL Dream Team" - a hand-picked team described by Chris over at Republic of Austin as "a collective of citizens from around Austin who are dedicated to the Austin music scene. There are musicians, local record label peeps, promoters, members of the media and folks who love music." We'll be at the ACL Cares booth this weekend, so come say hi to us and find out more about AMP on your way into ACL!
