Thank thank THANK you to all of our fans, friends, families and the great city of Austin for sending us home with glowing hearts and a mantle-full of awards from the Austin Chronicle's 29th Annual Austin Music Awards last Saturday! What an amazing way to end an unforgettable SXSW! Read the full Music Awards review here. We were fortunate to leave with the following awards: Band of the Year Album of the Year Song of the Year - "Detroit" Best Bass Guitar - Jack O'Brien Best Keyboards - A.J. Vincent Best Record Producer - Danny Reisch, "The Bright Light Social Hour" And we were named runners-up in the following: #2 Best Electric Guitar - Curtis Roush #2 Best Drums/Percussion - Jo Mirasole #2 Best Rock Band #3 Best Songwriter #3 Best Indie Band #4 Best Male Vocals - Curtis Roush #6 Musician of the Year - Jack O'Brien It was also an incredible honor to perform a short set at the Austin Music Hall and share the stage with Austin legends old and new, including Roky Erickson, The Meat Puppets, Billy Gibbons, Bubbly Puppy, Eric Johnson, The Wagoneers, Sahara Smith, Mother Falcon, Speak and many others. After a long summer of camping out in some of Austin's finest recording studios, we have emerged with our first full-length album, simply titled "The Bright Light Social Hour." We would now like nothing more than to celebrate and share it with y'all. Our inaugural record release show will be held at Antone's on Friday, September 17th. We've assembled an outstanding bill with Brass Bed and The Frontier Brothers. Our own Joseph Mirasole will kick off the evening with a DJ set. And, of course, our new record will be available to purchase for the first time. We may have been a bit underdressed at the awards ceremony at The Austin Music Hall, but Curt gave a great speech, no one tripped and OMG Ray Benson is friggin gigantic in real life! Thanks so much once again to everyone who made this possible. We are awfully proud and grateful for the chance to represent our beautiful city, one that truly knows its music and has no shortage of remarkable musicians. Thanks y'all!
