Last week we had the honor of being among the first bands to break in Do512's new live taping series, Do512 Lounge Sessions (see The Black Angels' performance from the week before here). A swanky space with an intimate setting uncharacteristic of our normal live shows, it was the perfect mise en scène for the snug ceremony (read the full article here). The boys over at Austin Music Weekly did a killer job with the video, so please enjoy these live cuts of "Detroit" and "Back and Forth". Add Comment We are proud to announce a Live EP recorded at our New Year's show at The Parish Austin to be released digitally this March. Recorded and engineered by the lovely Danny Reisch and mixed at Lakeside Studio on a 1974 Neve 8058MKII console, we've just finished mixing and the tracks sound incredible! But getting this Live EP done has been no easy feat! On the way to the studio for the last day of mixing, abnormal amounts of ice and snow for central Texas saw Jack's car lose control. Skidding straight for the cliff side, Jack dove out of his car seconds before what looked like his impending death. Luckily the car was caught by a single, scrawny cedar tree and rescued later with zero damage done to the car or its driver. The EP will include live versions of a couple of album tracks as well a couple of never-recorded covers. We're very excited to announce that live video will accompany a few of the EP tracks, masterfully filmed by Hussain Pirani and crew. We don't have video clips available yet, but here is a sample of Curt's scream at the end of "Young Man Blues" with all other instruments muted: We plan to release the EP in time for SXSW 2011, so please stay tuned!
