We've just been asked to support Dave Matthews Band's rescheduled show TONIGHT at the Austin360 Amphitheater! Tickets still available here. Doors at 5, we play at 7. See ya tonight!
A few months back while traveling through central Florida, we stopped into North Avenue Studios to record some tracks for Consequence of Sound/Off the Avenue. We're very excited to share with you two new tracks, "Ouroboros" and "Sea of the Edge." If I remember correctly, they only let us do one take of each song. Don't miss Jo losing his headphones and cymbal wingnut at the end of "Ouroboros." Ouroboros: Sea of the Edge: We're hard at work on the never-ending process of finalizing the new songs, and we're very excited to announce that we've decided to produce our second album ourselves. After much soul-searching and research, we've decided to use the money saved and budgeted for album 2 to build a studio out of our place outside Austin. Curtis has an engineer friend who's about to leave to fish for salmon in Alaska and is generously lending us much of his paramount recording equipment, and we'll be putting together a ton of great vintage and tube gear. We're filling our place with analog synths and tube microphones, not to mention the preamp setup used on Abbey Road and Dark Side of the Moon and an outboard gear rack from late 1960's NASA (!!! - photos coming soon). We'll be spending the next month finishing the songs and putting the studio together and look forward to spending the summer making the record. Of course, releasing is a very long process, even once all tracking is finished, but we plan to get the record in your hands as soon as we can. Throughout the process we'll be posting updates on our facebook and twitter pages, as well as here, so keep in touch! And we'll be taking breaks to play some incredible festivals this summer, including Hangout, Summer Camp, Wakarusa, All Good, FloydFest, Lollapalooza, Telluride Blues and Brews and a couple more GREAT ones to be announced very soon! All live performance info can be found here. Big love, Jack & The Bright Light Social Hour The good people at Fort Lauderdale's Tortuga Music Festival asked us to help spread awareness about ocean conservation. What we learned really affected us, Jo in particular: Catch us at Tortuga Fest next weekend (April 13-14).
